Saliva is produced by our salivary glands and when they are clogged or not working properly, our saliva can be too acidic, resulting in dry mouth and sometimes mouth sores.

Saliva is alkaline. A good reason to be concerned about dry mouth is that when we chew our food, our saliva (which should carry a high pH), works in tandem with our teeth to break down or pre-digest our food before it goes into out stomach.

Antagonists of dry mouth may be smoking, or some medications, even allergy and antihistamines, plus sugary acidic drinks like soda, and of course acidic drinks like coffee and alcohol. We are mostly made of water and should really focus on keeping our water environment clean and healthy.

Why we should drink clean pure water ? Our body is made up of mostly water, at birth about 90%, as an adult we hover around 80% or more. If you think about stagnant water, it’s a clear picture of why we should drink clean, pure water everyday. We absorb nutrition from food and water, but today water is degraded and it is our individual responsibility to purify our drinking water for good health. While there may be a lot of different approaches to dry mouth, xylitol sweetened gum, mints, etc., offer a simple and natural solution to increase saliva flow naturally. You can now find many products made with xylitol over the counter at your local grocery, drug store, and of course big box stores, however most are corn based and made in China, so for the healthiest xylitol look for USA products who use domestic xylitol, made from birch trees. Hydration is Everything – Body Weight vs. Body Water

How much water should a person drink?  Take your body weight, divide by 2 and that tells you roughly how many quarts of water you are (each quart of water weighs about 2 pounds), example 100 pounds = 50 quarts. Then decide how much pure drinking water you should drink,  i.e., 8 glasses a day would be 2 quarts fresh water each day.  So if you are 150 pounds and drank 2 quarts of water a day, it would take 75 days to drink your body water, 3 quarts a day would take 50 days, ultimately having an impact on your level of hydration (cells), and water environment.

Note about Xylitol: In addition to gum, mints, etc., I like xylitol for some food preparation, especially (looks like sugar, tastes like sugar, and acts like sugar) for baking, sauces, and making berry jams. For a daily beverage sweetener I prefer concentrated stevia for making healthy drinks at home like lemonade, red tea, juice from concentrate, etc.

So here we are knowing a lot of our produce is genetically modified, that our conventional produce is filled with chemicals and pesticides. That our meat and poultry is for the most part today, very inhumanely raised and given hormones, antibiotics, and degraded food…… BUT we have limited funds for food.

Organic is so expensive, how do we make the best choices on our budget?  

Choices should start with the understanding you may have to eat less to get more, however once you get that part, no matter what you buy, you’ll be looking for quality and not quantity. You’ll also become more aware of which companies are delivering food for your HEALTH, and which are delivering food for PROFIT, regardless of how they do it, and how you may suffer from the degraded foods.  

Let’s keep in mind our body “REQUIRES” a minimum level of nutrition to FUNCTION, without it there are deficits, as the deficits grow, physical symptoms and dis-ease do as well. If you want to become empowered about your health you’re going to need to discern your food and water choices.

Dr. Manny, Fox News, Speaks Out About Alkaline Water, Maraline Responds.

Dr. Manny of Fox News says…”If it (ionizing) sounds too good to be true, it probably is!” Watch his video on ionizers.

Because his response to ionizers was very brief, I felt compelled to respond to Dr. Manny. And, not that I felt he was unfair, I emailed Dr. Manny simply because without specific and extensive research, alkalizing can be misunderstood.

Below is my email to him.

Dr. Manny,

Please don’t underestimate the power of pH balance – It is exactly as you said, our bodies are too acidic, however I personally (having been in the field 10 years) don’t believe diet alone can correct the imbalance. And as enhancements go, electric ionizers are great, but most people today cannot afford them, and they don’t address the purity of the water. I was happy to hear you speak with some authority on this subject, so many from the medical community don’t, and I’d like to add to your research.

Everyone needs higher levels of whole food nutrition, clean, pure water, and to shortstop eating processed and fast foods (to start).

Yes our body regulates our pH, but it can only do what it can with what it’s got to work with – if there is more acid rain coming in than it can resolve then there is trouble, and today there is trouble with 1 in 3 people (children and adults).

So for most people today, their body regulates at the expense of stealing calcium (12pH) or potassium (14pH), but that’s not the whole story, and it may be interesting to look past electric ionizers and into what caused the issue, because only then can we educate people to change. We only need to go as far as looking at our food to know the system is broken, we have degraded food today. We also have degraded water and cities are struggling to maintain government regulations let alone health levels.

Water:

  • Tap water – Cities are adding tons more chemicals than they ever had to before. Water is unpredictable including well water. Gov’t. and health levels are different.
  • Bottled water is not the answer for a number of reasons, but most important to the consumer is that it is basically unregulated, and unless marked “spring”, most is reverse osmosis which strips the water of the bad granted, but also strips vital minerals, leaving the water dead and acidic (probably a 6 pH which will have an adverse health affect longterm).
  • Ionizing does more than raise the pH of the water (and today there is an alternative to electric ionizers, an inexpensive water powered system which also filters to purify as well as alkalize and ionize tap or well water into something that more reasonably resembles pure water.  
    • Ionizing breaks down the molecular structure of the water, making it smaller so it can hydrate the 20 different cell sizes and hydrate or re-hydrate us more easily.
    • Whether due to degraded water or acidic bodies, I find tap water runs right through people. We have to find ways to make it wetter.
      • An inexpensive way to help hydrate cells and bodies, is to add nutrition to the water, i.e., the phytochemical nutrition found in lemons and limes works great (pre-digestively acidic while post digestively alkaline)–
        • Wanting to extract nutrition will give the body more time to breakdown the molecular structure for hydration or re-hydration.

 

The truth is our body is intended to receive nutrition and hydration from food and water – whole foods and pure water.

While electric countertop ionizers are becoming popular, for a long time they were high end alternative response to degraded water and a remedy for an acidic body (for many reasons, not just the pH factor).

  • Pure water is optimal and the first priority. Pure water is clean, has minerals and carries a neutral pH. There is no pure water sources left in the world today, so the best we can do is filter it and enhance our tap water as naturally as possible, until we can get it as pure as we can, for drinking, bathing, cooking.

 

Best: Whole House system using state of the art medias like KDF 55, 85, etc., coconut carbon, and then further purify drinking water, enhancing with alkalizing filter

Good: Drinking/cooking water and shower/bath water.

Note:  If you still want an ionizer, then run pure water through it for best results.

Dehydration, Challenges & Solutions, Plus “Bottled Water” Revealed

We need clean body fluids! 70% body, 96% blood

Without pure water and lots of it, we cannot become pH balanced! 

Dehydration could be a major underlying reason for acidity. When you are dehydrated and not feeling well (sick and tired), there really isn’t anything that will improve your condition until you re-hydrate..

Most of us already know that our body is approximately 70% water, but we may not have made the leap that dehydration stems from us needing to replace the water we lose each day, through urination and perspiration, with clean pure water.  Our urine should be clear and without odor. The color (outside of vitamin discharge that happens when you don’t absorb the vitamins) determines the level of hydration, clear you are hydrated, after that you are in some state of dehydration, which is also why we need to maintain 70% water as a standard for ourselves.

Blood is or should be about 96% water. Our blood is our river of life, and our blood, just like a river, cannot flow throughout our body properly when the water is low (dehydrated), or when our water is not as clean as it needs to be for good health.

Your entire body depends on pure water, and that’s a challenge today. You see our body was designed to receive nutrition both from water and food. Withholding, or not ingesting enough water is detrimental, but so is ingesting degraded water. Pure water with nutrition (minerals) will be a neutral pH.

Solutions for Pure Drinking Water

Bottled water is becoming less and less of an option for many reasons. Water issues (even with city water): chemicals, pesticides, bacteria, nitrates, chlorine, pharmaceuticals, and the list goes on.

Below we’ll explain how to tell if you are dehydrated, but bottom line it’s a challenge to be fully hydrated without preparing at least some of our own beverages,  especially because most of the mainstream beverage and food choices are not rehydrating, not from pure water and whole food sources, and in fact, beverages like soda and coffee are dehydrating.
